A party of police came under fire yesterday morning as they intercepted a suspected contraband activity at Belfield Foreshore, East Coast Demerara.
Police Commander of Region 4 subdivision C, Andries Junor, told Stabroek News that police acted on information and ventured to the area where the activity was taking place.
As they approached, a boat, which police suspected to have transported the contraband was leaving and the persons inside the boat opened fire.
