A man who allegedly had more than 400 grammes in his possession at his Mahdia home was granted bail on Wednesday after he denied the charge.
Israel Jacobs appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Two and pleaded not guilty to the charge that on December 3rd, 2019, at Wrong Turn, Mahdia, he had in his possession 453 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
He was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 and told to appear at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court later this month.
Police allege that on the day in question, ranks were patrolling around the district when they received information which led them to Jacobs’ home. A search was conducted in and around Jacobs’ house but nothing was found. A further search was conducted on the roof of his home, where the ranks found a black bulky plastic bag. It was opened in the presence of the Jacobs and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems were found. He was told of the offence, cautioned and arrested. The suspected narcotic was weighed and it amounted to 453 grammes.
