(Jamaica Gleaner) A Grants Pen woman is lucky to be alive following a case of attempted suicide which was thwarted after she was cut loose from a rope by a relative who found her hanging from a tree.
It was a last gasp for breath that alerted attention to the distressed woman, known as ‘Spider’, and who is from a Morgan Lane address, The Gleaner understands.
She is now reportedly in a stable but sensitive state at the Kingston Public Hospital.
Residents told The Gleaner that the incident, which occurred last week Friday, has set tongues wagging following allegations that she suffered a meltdown after a romantic relationship collapsed.
Her lover tells her that it is over and she is going back to her husband, and she decide that she would commit suicide. She even told her son that nobody loves her and the poor child had to witness something like this, a resident told our news team.
The Grants Pen police have confirmed the incident, adding that no official report has yet been made.
“She got a stroke from the ordeal and is lucky her cousin cut her down from the tree,” a senior policeman with knowledge of the incident but requested anonymity told The Gleaner.
Counselling has been recommended for the woman’s teenage child.
The police said that they were aware of the allegations surrounding the incident.
“From what we gather, and this is based on the information that was said to the police, it is a union that has gone sour, and as a result, one party attempted suicide.
“The police would have to speak with the woman, but as we gather, she is still confined to a hospital recovering,” the cop said.
