(Trinidad Guardian) The 2019 murder toll is now officially over 500.
A double murder on Chancellor Road last evening, pushed the figure from 499 to 501.
At the start of yesterday, 497 people were registered as murdered.
However, a murder in Palo Seco yesterday morning and a decomposing body found in the Arima pushed the toll up, before the two latest killings.
The year 2018 ended with 516 murders, making it the second deadliest year in the history of T&T.
The year 2008 recorded the highest murder rate with 550 homicides being committed.
