Dear Editor,
Once again with the Christmas season on us, the residents of Lethem are being besieged by the noise of explosive firecrackers. Although these devices are illegal, year after year despite numerous complaints, the police refuse to do anything about the problem. As a result, old people, young children, babies and dogs have to endure these nerve-shattering noises. Just yesterday, explosives went off as early as six in the morning. The police know not only the offenders, but the people who sell the firecrackers as well. I wonder if the Police Complaints Authority could investigate and remedy this situation.
Yours faithfully,
