A man was yesterday sentenced to three months in jail after he told a Georgetown magistrate that he bit a security guard.

Mark Thompson appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty yesterday, when he was read a charge of unlawful wounding.  It is alleged that on November 22nd, 2019, at Bourda, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Roger Harmon.

After the unrepresented man pleaded guilty to the offence, the police prosecutor explained to the court that Thompson was being arrested by the security guard for another offence when he bit the guard at the side of his left eye. The attack was reported and Thompson was arrested.  In response, Thompson, however, told the court that the officer assaulted and chased him. He said that he bit the man because he had been in a scuffle couple years ago and had gotten burned. He said that he was not going to let that happen again.

Thompson was previously convicted and sentenced for simple larceny.
