Dear Editor,
I was a teacher trained at the Lilian Dewar College of Education for secondary teachers and I must confess I learnt more English grammar from a Latin American text for universities. This is shameful to say but that’s how it is. After 35 years living in Venezuela I discovered this. The point I’m trying to make is Latinos show more interest in our language than us in theirs. Why are Guyanese not wanting to understand the language of our 600,000,000 neighbours?
Yours faithfully,
Sheik Mohamed Hakim
