Presidents’ College, Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI), Marian Academy and New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) secured wins when the annual Youth Basketball Guyana [YBG] Titan Bowl Championship started on Thursday.
Played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, President’s College blew out Christ Church 57-10. Gabriel Lim tallied a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds while Ruel Monroe added 13 points.
Rahiem Neils scored six points for Christ Church.
Marian Academy got the better of St. Stanislaus College 39-23. Josiah Daniels had 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals in the win while Tyrese James added eight points.
For St Stanislaus, Mustapha Kadir battled to 10 points and 14 rebounds while Vernon Edwards tallied six points and seven rebounds.
Also in the win column was GTI who defeated Bishops’ High 56-41.
David Conway tallied 16 points while Israel Yaw registered 13 points and 12 rebounds. For Bishops’ High, Timothy Richmond had 19 points, eight rebounds and six steals while Roydon Glasglow netted 19 points.
In the closes the encounter of the round, New Amsterdam Technical Institute eked out a 39-36 over Kwakwani. Kadeen Dover had 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals while Gevon Schultz netted eight points.
For Kwakwani, Royon Shortt impressed with 23 points, 20 rebounds and eight steals. The competition, which also features a girls and an U16 section, concludes tomorrow.
