The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) today decided by a majority vote to allow a five-day field verification of the supposedly new registrants recorded during the truncated and controversial House to House (HtH) exercise.
This had been a demand of opposition-appointed commissioners of GECOM. Their demand was predicated on the fact that a list of over 20,000 allegedly first-time registrants from the HtH exercise was found to contain names that were already on the National Register of Registrants.
