Lolita Callendar, called ‘Lola Doll,’ is currently awaiting sentencing after a city magistrate yesterday found her guilty of assaulting fellow make-up artist Onika Pompey.
Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty told Callendar that she had taken into the consideration the evidence by Pompey and found that it corresponded with what she saw in the video that was shown during her trial. She added that she also considered the testimony of the witness that testified on behalf of Callendar but found that the witness’ version of events contradicted what Pompey said and what the video showed.
However, the magistrate noted that she was aware of Callendar’s “situation” and as a result she announced that she would not hand down a sentence until Callendar spoke with a probation officer. She then instructed the probation officer to speak with Callendar during the course of the next four weeks and adjourned the matter until January 17th, 2020.
Callendar subsequently told the magistrate that she was sorry for what she had done but the magistrate noted the absence of Pompey and told her to make her apologies when the matter is called again.
During previous court hearings, Pompey requested $800,000 from Callendar for the damage she caused to her hair and other items. Callendar refused, saying that she did not have any money. She then offered hair products to Pompey but she did not accept it.
The charge against Callendar states that she inflicted grievous bodily harm on Pompey on April 6th, 2018, at Leopold Street. Callendar had pleaded not guilty to the charge. At that time, Pompey, of Barima Avenue, Bel Air Park, was also charged with unlawfully wounding Callendar on the same day and at the same location. However, that charge was dismissed.
