Trinidad woman doused with rum, set on fire, dies

(Trinidad Express) A 45 year old Ste Madeleine man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing a woman by setting her on fire.

The suspect was arrested by police for the murder of Annie Seepersad.

Seepersad, 44, was attacked on the night of November 23 after she returned home from liming.

Seepersad and a close male relative had an argument and the man threw puncheon rum on her and lit her on fire.

She ran out to the neighbours and they extinguished the flames.

An ambulance took her to the San Fernando General Hospital, where she was warded.

She had suffered severe burns and died on November 29.

An autopsy stated her cause of death as sepsis due to burns.

The suspect was arrested and is in custody of the Homicide Region III officers.
