An 18-year-old who allegedly snatched a woman’s purse on Water Street was remanded to prison on Wednesday after he was read a robbery charge.
Isaac Caesar appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Five.
He denied the charge, which stated that on December 15th, 2019, at Water Street, Georgetown, he stole $15,000 and a cellphone along with a purse valued $62,500 from Roheen Deen.
Prosecutor Seon Blackman objected to bail, citing the prevalence of the offence. He said that on the said date, Deen was in the company of others when Caesar snatched her purse. Deen raised an alarm and Caesar ran into the police, who arrested the youth and found the items in his possession.
Caesar was subsequently remanded to prison and was told to return to court on January 8th, 2020.
