A 45-year-old man who allegedly broke and entered Gafoor’s Houston complex with intent to commit a felony was fined yesterday after he admitted to the charge.
The charge against Sunil Narine, a resident of Albouystown, stated that on December 13th, 2019 at Houston, he attempted to commit a felony after breaking and entering a Gafoor’s Company building.
He pleaded guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court One.
According to information presented by Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, at around 23:00 hours, the security guard at the building heard a noise coming from inside the building and upon checking, he found Narine hiding in the toilet area. Narine was subsequently arrested and taken to the police station, where he admitted to the charge.
“Is me and another man went in the place and the man run away and I get catch,” Narine said after admitting to the offence.
Narine was fined $25,000 or if he is unable to pay the fine, he will serve a default sentence of four weeks in jail.
