A 32-year-old fisherman was remanded to prison yesterday after he was accused of breaking and entering another man’s home and stealing over half a million in articles.
Kevin McRae denied the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court One.
The charge alleged that between the 8th and 10th of December, 2019, at Orange Walk, McRae broke and entered the dwelling house of Hubert October and stole an Apple ipod valued $230,000, a cake mixer valued, $35,000, 7 chairs valued $129,000 and $127,000.
According to the court prosecutor, McRae and October are known to each other. He said that on the day in question, October secured his home around 20:00 hours and left. On December 10th, October reportedly got a call and went back to his home. Upon entering his home he found a number of items missing. He subsequently contacted October, who took him to the persons he sold the items to. October reported the matter and McRae allegedly admitted to the offence while in custody.
McRae was remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned until December 27th, 2019.
