Elite League teams Fruta Conquerors and Buxton United stormed into the quarterfinal round following lopsided wins on Friday in the GFF Super 16 championships at the Beterverwagting [BV] ground.
The Tucville unit dismissed Buxton Stars 4-0. Ryan Hackett smashed a double in the 50th and 82nd while Delon Lanferman and Nicholas MacArthur scored in the fourth and 62nd minute respectively. On the other hand, Buxton United dismantled New Amsterdam [NA] United 6-1.
Dillon Wright recorded a hat-trick in the 20th, 45th and 59th minute, while Omari Glasgow tallied a double in the 10th and 74th minute. Adding a goal in the 84th minute was Samuel Johnson. For the loser, Jamal Butts scored in the 27th minute. The first round of matches will conclude today at the National Track and Field Center, Leonora.
Santos will match skills with Eagles at 18:30hrs while Riddim Squad will faceoff with defending champion Den Amstel at 21:00hrs in the main attraction. The respective winners will progress to the quarterfinal section.
The team emerging the winner on January 1st, 2020 will be rewarded with two million dollars and the championship trophy, with the losing finalist pocketing one million. The third and fourth place finishers will receive $500, 000 and $250,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
