Darkness cloaked the silent world
And then appeared a Star
Brightly shining in the East
It was seen both near and far.
And many saw and marvelled
For they had never seen its like
Shining pure and radiant
With rays of Holy Light
Shepherds in the countryside
And Wise Men from afar
All followed without question
The guidance of this Star
And it stopped above a humble stable
Where upon a bed of hay
Guarded by sheep and oxen
A sleeping baby lay.
What child is this who sleeps here?
Whose face is as pure as the dawn?
And an Angel came and answered
“Rejoice! Your Saviour has been born!
There sleeps the Lamb of God
And you have seen his light
God’s promise of redemption
Has been fulfilled tonight!”
