The police say they are investigating the murder of a labourer who died yesterday after being stabbed with a barbecue fork.
In a release the police noted that the incident which caused the death of the labourer identified as Balchan Baichan, 32, occurred yesterday around 1.20 pm at Logwood Squatting area, Enmore North, East Coast Demerara.
Initial investigations by the police showed that the suspect who is a 67-year-old fisherman, was on his verandah consuming alcohol when Baichan entered his yard. The suspect asked the man to leave his yard and subsequently an argument ensued.
Police in the release, said that the suspect armed himself with a barbecue fork and stabbed Baichan in the neck. The labourer was then taken to the Nabaclis Health Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival
Investigations are currently ongoing as the suspect is in custody assisting with the investigations.
