A South Ruimveldt man, who police say was found in unlawful possession of a pistol, has been granted his release on $100,000 bail.
Andre Pollydore, of Lot 327 Lamaha Place, South Ruimveldt, appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in Georgetown yesterday on a charge of possession of an illegal firearm.
The charge states that on December 18th, at Sheriff Street, Campbellville, he had a 9mm pistol in his possession, while he was not the lawful holder of a firearm licence at the time.
According to the police, acting on information, ranks stopped a car occupied by four persons. After exiting the vehicle, they were searched and Pollydore handed over a gun.
Pollydore, who was represented by attorney Dexter Todd, denied the charge. His attorney, in an application for reasonable bail, told the court that at the time of the arrest Pollydore was in a car with three other persons. He went on to say that his client had only gotten station bail yesterday after being in custody for more than 72 hours.
He also told the court that Pollydore had no previous convictions neither did he have any interaction with the law before. Pollydore, however, has faced charges before on multiple occasions.
Pollydore was granted $100,000 bail with the condition that he report to the Kitty Police Station every Friday at 6 pm until his trial. He was told to make his next court appearance on January 27th, 2020.
