Canje Knights defeated Rose Hall Town Jammers 68-60 when the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association [BABA] ‘Mecca Championship’, commenced Saturday at the Vryman’s Erven Court, New Amsterdam [NA].
Tyrone Dey led the way with 18 points, while Jamol Felix and Steve Roopnarine added 11 points each. For the losers, Shamar France recorded a game-high 30 points. The next best scorer with 10 points was Charles William.
The event continues on December 28th at the Hopetown Basketball Court with the home side Hopetown Steelers battling Ithaca Hardliners from 18:00hrs. The grand final will be hosted at the NA court on December 29th.
The competing teams are Rose Hall Town Jammers, Canje Knights, Hopetown Steelers and Ithaca Hard-liners. Sponsors include Nigel Hinds Financial Services. Cash incentives and trophies will be awarded to the respective teams.
