Godfrey Cox, a youth who is accused of robbing a driver of a phone and $250,000 in cash by snatching them from his vehicle, will be spending Christmas in jail as he awaits his next court hearing.

Cox, 19, was remanded to prison yesterday by Magistrate Clive Nurse after the robbery charge was read to him.

The charge states that on December 20th, 2019, at King and Charlotte streets, Cox robbed Noel Trotman of a phone, valued $20,000, and $250,000 in cash.

Cox was represented by attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat, who asked the magistrate to grant his client bail, while claiming that Cox was approached by Trotman, who asked him to conduct business with him.

However, according to prosecutor Deniro Jones, Trotman had slowed down his vehicle to cross Charlotte Street and Cox, who was with an accomplice in the vicinity, approached the vehicle. Cox subsequently asked Trotman a question after which he allegedly pushed his hands into the car and relieved Trotman of the phone and cash and immediately escaped.  The robbery was reported to the police and Cox was later arrested and placed on an identification parade, where Trotman positively identified him.

After the information was related to the court, Cox was remanded to prison and told to make his next court appearance on January 7th, 2019.
