(Trinidad Guardian) The 24-year-old man who was killed on Christmas Eve day in Port of Spain went to purchase a van as a Christmas gift.
aIt is believed that he was lured into a trap where he was robbed of $40,000 in cash and his cellphone.
According to a police report, at about 1.50 pm, Dharmadass Ramjit was found with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the ground between Buildings 27 and 29 on Duncan Street. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Ramjit lived at Jerningham Junction in Cunupia.
Speaking with the Guardian Media at Forensic Science Centre on Friday, Ramjit’s relatives described him as a “hardworking man, who sold all his scrap iron the day before just so that he can go and purchase the van.”
Ramjit was the father of a one-year-old child.
“He was never involved in anything bad and we want justice. We want to know what happened because what we hearing and experienced shows us that things are not adding up,” one relative said.
