With six hours of play lost due to rain Anthony Adams XI managed to close yesterday’s opening day against Leon Johnson’s XI at 80-2.
In the first three-day practice match for the Guyana Jaguars team at the National Stadium, Providence, intermittent rainfall forced the covers to remain extensively on a pitch that was reportedly soaked the night before and not allowed to dry due to the weather.
This made only 34 overs possible.
Nevertheless, Adams’ XI took first strike in overcast conditions and were off to a good start with Tevin Imlach and Raymond Perez adding 47 for the opening partnership.
Imlach heads into day two on 23 not out. He faced 97 balls and struck one boundary during his two-hour long stay at the crease.
Imlach lost his opening partner to a faint edge to Anthony Bramble behind the stumps off of leg-spinner, Devendra Bishoo. Perez made 24 from 48 balls while hitting three fours along the way.
Kemol Savory also faced 48 balls and hit three boundaries before he was trapped leg before wicket to Bishoo for 18.
Bishoo closed on 2-26 from his 10 overs but Nial Smith remains at the crease with Imlach on five.
Today’s play will resume at 09.00 hours to make up for time lost.
