(Trinidad Guardian) Cecil Skeete—the man who accused top cop Gary Griffith of choking, punching, and putting a gun to his head—has been shot dead.
Sources say the 50-year-old was shot several times last night near his Freedom Street, Cocorite home.
It is alleged he was part of the “Rasta City” Gang.
Over the years, Skeete reportedly had a number of run-ins with the law for possession of firearms and ammunition and other offences.
Guardian Media understands he was out on bail on charges of arms and ammunition possession dating to 2017.
In August, Cecil Skeete’s son, Ronell Pierre, was shot and killed on the Western Main Road, Cocorite.
Cecil Skeete a resident of Cocorite, alleged in a recent Denyse Renne / Trinidad Express story that Police Commissioner Gary Griffith abused him while at the Four Roads Police Station.
Commissioner Griffith denied the allegations, which had been supported by an image of the Station’s Diary, where all incidents are recorded. The top cop had claimed that Ms Renne was obsessed with discrediting him.
Cecil Skeete then suddenly recanted his story, denying the incident ever happened.
