Public Utilities Commission prepared to intervene on behalf of this GPL customer

Dear Editor,

I write with reference to a letter in the Stabroek News edition of Tuesday, 5th February 2019 captioned, `Power bill skyrocketed with new meter, GPL not providing any answers’, which stated that GPL’s newly installed meter is not producing accurate readings of electricity consumption.

In keeping with our mission statement, “To ensure that regulated utilities offer an efficient service to consumers at a reasonable cost”, the Commission remains ready and willing to intervene on the customer’s behalf.

I would be grateful if you could use your good offices to facilitate or liaise with the aggrieved customer of the aforementioned letter to make contact with our offices on telephone numbers (592) 226-7042/ 227-2182 in order for us to render assistance, however, we must caution that we cannot give any assurance of success.

Further, should the need arise, kindly inform persons who may have issues with any of the four utility companies – GTT, GWI, GPL or Digicel – to contact either our Georgetown office or Berbice branch on telephone numbers (592) 226-7042/ 227-2182 or (592) 333-6077 respectively; or visit in person the offices which are situate at 106 New Garden Street, Queens-town, Georgetown and Lot AV Free Yard, Port Mourant, Berbice; or  contact us via our website http://puc.org.gy

I have copied both my Executive Assistant, Ms Daniels and Mr Persaud, the Secretary to the Commission on this email.

Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours faithfully,
