Businessman and chartered accountant Deodat Indar has endorsed the candidacy of Irfaan Ali for the presidency of Guyana at the upcoming general elections.
In a video posted in Facebook, Indar also lauded the PPP/C manifesto as the answer to Guyana’s problems.
Indar, the immediate past President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that in the three years he served in the leadership of the private sector he had met myriad small and medium-scale businesspersons who had complained of problems such as taxation, burdensome fees and bureaucracy none of which have been addressed by this government.
He said that he has known Ali since 1992 and said that the PPP/C’s presidential candidate “shines bright when it comes to economic development, when it comes to finance and when it comes to visioning for Guyana”.
He urged all Guyanese to vote for Ali.
Meanwhile, when the PPP/C submits its list of candidates today for the March 2nd, 2020 elections, it will include former PNCR-1G parliamentarian Anthony Vieira.
Vieira, who stood front and centre as the main opposition party set off from its Freedom House headquarters on Robb Street, Georgetown, told Stabroek News that he felt his expertise in broadcasting and sugar were not being used by the current administration.
Vieira had been a fierce critic of the PPP/C while aligned with the PNCR -1G in opposition.
“A lot of what they have been doing in agriculture I don’t agree with and I’ve written extensively about it. If you can give the GDF more money than sugar, well then…,” he lamented.
