A 63-year-old miner was taken into custody on Tuesday morning following the discovery of a quantity of suspected cocaine at Skull Mountain, Arakaka, North West District.
The police in a press release yesterday said that the discovery was made by ranks of Region One (Barima Waini) sometime between 4.30am and 6am.
The substance was weighed and amounted to 164.5 grams.
According to the statement, ranks acting on information received, went to Skull Mountain Arakaka North West District where they came into contact with the suspect who was at the time in the verandah of a businesswoman’s premises.
The suspect was confronted by the police and questioned after which a search was conducted on his person and surrounding.
During the process, the police said that one black bag wrapped in transparent plastic containing a quantity of creamish substance suspected to be cocaine was found in a haversack belonging to the suspect.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Arakaka Police Outpost where he is currently assisting with investigations.
He is expected to be charged soon.
