The senior Guyana Police Force Officer accused of sexually assaulting a female has been relieved of his duties and an administrative decision “will be made shortly”, according to Commissioner of Police Leslie James.
“He was stood down from his actual duties and an administrative decision will be made shortly” James told reporters yesterday when asked for an update on the matter on the sidelines of the Guyana Defence Force’s Annual Officers’ Conference at State House.
Stabroek News understands that a female journalist made the allegation against the officer and that the alleged incident occurred sometime late last year.
