President David Granger this morning departed Guyana for Cuba to undergo a scheduled follow-up medical evaluation by his doctors at Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (Center for Surgical Medical Research) CIMEQ.
A statement from the Ministry of the Presidency noted that the Head of State, who is accompanied by First Lady, Sandra Granger, received positive feedback last October from the Cuban Medical Specialists about his recovery from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
In October last year, Granger completed a scheduled medical evaluation at CIMEQ and his medical specialists said that he is in remission from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a release from the Guyana mission in Havana had said then.
The release had said then that he was due for another scheduled routine medical check in January 2020.
The President had been diagnosed with the cancer at CIMEQ in October of 2018 and underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment thereafter.
