Three-day art exhibition by Guyana United Artists

Dear Editor,

The Guyana United Artists (GUA) will be launching a prelude to Guyana’s 50th Republic Anniversary status under the theme “From Colony to Republic” the Saga of Cuffy, Bechu to Walter Rodney. Other dynamic paintings of Guyana’s post-Colonial history such as the Great Civil Rebellion of 1979 and aftermath deal with the Guyanese struggle for a just political dispensation in which all Guyanese can benefit from the extraction of our mineral resources and the oil/gas revenue.

The exhibition, while it is on our Republic status, comes just a few weeks before the decisive General Elections of March 2nd, 2020 and is dedicated to the promotion of peace and goodwill among all Guyanese, a just political dispensation that would be consultative and engage all Guyanese stakeholders in charting the way forward.

Given the nature of Guyana’s electoral politics the disease of racial and political discrimination and victimization has eaten away the social fabric of Guyanese Society.

Objections raised as to the continued destitute state of Senior Artists who have given their Golden Years to our country came under the vulgar attack of ethnicity.

The Guyana United Artists are entrenched “Ain’t no stopping us now, we’re on the move!” Come out and support our three-day Exhibition on Main Street, Georgetown, from January 23rd to the 25th.

Yours faithfully,

Desmond Alli
