Five-time defending champions, Guyana Jaguars have slipped to fourth with 24.8 points after two rounds of the West Indies Professional Cricket League Championships.
Jaguars entered the second round with 21 points but only managed 3.8 points after losing outright to Barbados Pride by seven wickets.
Pride currently lie third in the standings with 25.6 points while Windward Islands Volcanoes sit in second place after ending the two rounds with 29.4 points. Trinidad and Tobago Red Force lead the table with 29.6 points. Jamaica Scorpions are below in fifth place Jaguars with 14.8 points after two draws and a winless Leeward Islands Hurricanes are on 4.2 points.
Scorpion’s Paul Palmer, leads the run charts with 262 runs and a best of 116 not out. He is trailed by Red Force’s duo, Darren Bravo (199) and Joshua DaSilva (193) as well as Pride’s Kyle Mayers (186), Hurricane’s Kieran Powell (179) and Volcanoe’s Kaveem Hodge (172).
Tagenarine Chanderpaul (146), Christopher Barnwell (140), Vishaul Singh (110) and Chandrapaul Hemraj (106) are the only Jaguars’ batsmen with over 100 runs.
Red Force’s Akeal Hosein tops the wickets column with 15 wickets and is followed by Volcanoes’ Shane Shillingford with 11. Pride’s Jomel Warrican rounds off the podium of spinners with 10 wickets.
Jaguars’ Nial Smith also has 10 wickets and his countrymen, Veerasammy Permaul and Keon Joseph have eight wickets each.
Jaguars head home for the third round where they host Red Force at Providence. The round also sees Scorpions hosting Pride at Sabina Park and Volcanoes inviting Hurricanes to Darren Sammy Stadium, St. Lucia in a day/night encounter. These matches will be played from Thursday to Sunday.
