(Trinidad Express) Vincent Panchoo has been identified as the man whose headless body was found in Santa Flora on Saturday night.
Panchoo was identified by his sister, who recognised the clothing and jewellery found with the remains. Panchoo, 42, of Santa Flora, went missing on December 30.
Police were told by his father that he left for work that morning and returned.
The father said he reported him missing to a station in the South Western Police Division.
An autopsy is expected to be done on Tuesday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
Two hunters found the body along a trail and contacted the Santa Flora police station at around 8p.m.
The officers conducted a search of the area and found the head a short distance away.
Investigators believe the man was murdered and his body set on fire in the forest.
He was wearing a blue coverall.
Police could not immediately say how the man was killed.
