Following his stints at two table tennis camps in Europe, national junior player Miguel Wong had a taste of top-flight competition in the recently held 2020 ITTF World Tour Platinum German open, in Magdeburg, Germany but was unsuccessful in advancing past the opening round.
Wong, who represented Guyana at the event, was knocked out by Japan’s Shunsuke Toganmi 11-3, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9 in the preliminary round of the men’s single category.
The 19-year-old Guyanese who recalled having his moments in the match, relayed to Stabroek Sport that he is not at all perturbed by the end result of his participation in the tournament, noting that it is all part of his growth process.
