The Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) and Everest recorded wins in yesterday’s round of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), New Building Society (NBS), forty- overs second-division competition.

 GNIC, over at the Queen’s College ground, trounced Sophia by eight wickets on the back of a clinical all-round performance from national youth player Dwain Dick.

 Sophia, after winning the toss and electing to bat, was bundled out for 106 in 16 overs as off-spinners Trevon Jones (6-21) and Dick (2-13) combined to dismiss their counterparts. GNIC in response, raced to 112-2 inside 11 overs with Dick who ended the game with a maximum, finishing unbeaten on 58, a knock which included five fours and the same number of maximums. He got support from Premchand Sookdeo (30). 

Meanwhile, over at Everest, the host defeated Transport Sports Club (TSC) by five wickets on the back of an unbeaten half-century by Saheed Mohamed. The day’s proceedings saw Transport winning the toss and electing to bat. 

 They were dismissed for a paltry 132 with Devaughn Nandan (29) the only batsman getting amongst the runs. Seamer Raylex Payne (3-22), Richie Looknauth (2-29) and David Williams (2-27) were the pick of the bowlers for Everest who romped home at 133-5 in 23 overs. Mohamed led the way with 63 while Looknauth (26 not out) steered the side home. Joel Spooner (2-32) and Otis Batson (2-32) ticked the wickets column for Transport.
