The 2020 edition of the Who’s Who in Guyana Business Directory was launched on Saturday evening at a reception hosted by British High Commissioner Greg Quinn and ActionINVEST Carib-bean Inc (ACI).
The event was held at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Bel Air Gardens.
Quinn, in a brief address at the launch, said the directory is something that should have existed long before and applauded the efforts of Vishnu Doerga, of ACI, in making it a reality.
He said that oil is not the only resource that exists in Guyana and that there are many different business in opportunities in the country.
Meanwhile, Doerga said that the directory is organised into 14 economic sectors, with customised company profiles and contact information. He said that the response to the 2019 edition was overwhelming as every single copy was distributed to the private and public sectors. He added that one of the reasons his company got involved in the directory business was because they couldn’t find a good medium for business to business marketing. He added that since printing the very first edition in 2019, they have since launched a website (www.whoswho.gy), which receives numerous hits daily.
The 2020 edition of the directory was also launched on the website.
Doerga also revealed that Global Compliance Services, a leading international certification body and registrar, with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, is expected to be launched in Guyana very soon and will offer ISO training, audit and certification services. Additionally, he said that ActionINVEST, in collaboration with its Canadian partners, will be organizing a career fair. The first fair, he said, will be held on March 21st from 1 pm at the Theatre Guild. He said that every featured organisation will be able get a booth for a special rate so that they can let people know about any current and upcoming jobs they may have.
Doerga added that to mark the directory’s launch, a number of the featured companies are currently offering promotions.
