Mahadeo, Adonis to represent Guyana at Reebok CrossFit Games

The Kares Caribbean Fitness Challenge is in the books.

Here is a recap and some facts following the sixth edition of the CrossFit-style event which was staged on Sunday at the National Park.

Dillon Mahadeo won his fifth consecutive title while Delice Adonis earned her second win following the 2018 edition.

For their efforts, the standouts from Cross Fit 592, earned $500,000 each compliments of the title sponsor, the most in its history. Mahadeo and Adonis will now move on to once again represent Guyana at the Reebok CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin in July.

The pair made their debut among the world’s best last year.

On Sunday, the event attracted 29 athletes, 10 of which were female.

It was of an international flavour as Kares Caribbean Fitness Challenge 2020 had athletes competing from Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Canada.

Some of the challenges the athletes had to conquer included: pistol squats, muscle ups, deadlifts, bag cleans, a one-mile run, thrusters, wall over burpees, heavy bag carries, box jumps, walking handstands etc.

The top five finishers in the Men’s RX category were Mahadeo (485 points), Omisi Williams (460 points), Trinidad and Tobago’s Shane Hamel-Smith (442 points), Kellon Reid (414 points) and Suriname’s Mark Tawjoeram (400 points).

The top five finishers in the Women’s RX division were Adonis (456 points), Suriname’s Kim Pinas (445 points), Semonica Duke (440 points), Tonnica Archer (416 points) and Suriname’s Lieke Verwoerd (410 points).

There was a teen challenge and also a category for Men and Women over 30.
