-MacArthur nets hat-trick
The Golden Jaguars got off to the perfect start in Group-A of the CONCACAF Men’s U20 Football Championship Qualifiers, mauling Montserrat by a 6-0 scoreline yesterday at the Nicaragua National Football Stadium.
Captain Nicolas MacArthur led the rout with a second half hat-trick in the 49th, 78th and 84th minute. He was assisted by goals from Omari Glasgow, Dorwin George and Ravon Bailey in the 31st, 36th and 87th minute respectively.
With the win, Guyana move atop the group with three points. On the other hand, Montserrat drop to the cellar on zero points. Guyana’s starting XI for the match consisted of Shawn Adonis, Marcus Wilson, Eric Moore, Nicholai Andrews, Keanu Lawrence, Threvon Pluck, Jamar Harrigon, George, Glasgow, McArthur and Osafa Simpson.
The Guyanese will now battle St Vincent and the Grenadines at 17:30hrs two days onward. They will then oppose US Virgin Islands on the 21st from 20:30hrs before ending their campaign against the host nation on the 23rd.
