Aquib Mohamed, Amanda Gunraj and Jada Toney were the standout performers when the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation hosted its Novices and Juniors Championships yesterday at St Stanislaus College.
Mohamed, an 83kg athlete from Roy’s Gym chalked up and lifted his way to the overall spoils in both the male junior and male novices divisions.
Mohamed tallied 566.420 IPF Points to earn the coveted awards.
Gunraj (female novices Open) and Toney (female junior) both of Buddy’s Gym were the overall winners in their respective categories.
Gunraj, lifting in the 74kg class, had 525.990 IPF points while 15 year-old Toney (57kg) earned 566.420 IPF Points.
