Topp XX and Coomacka will contest the inaugural Jermin and Family-sponsored and coordinated ‘Mash Cup’ final this evening following semifinal wins on Wednesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Linden.
Keon Hall recorded the solitary goal in the cagey affair, as he found the back of the net in the 85th minute. The conversion occurred 17 minutes after Evin McPherson of Winners Connection was issued with a red card in the 68th minute, after picking up his second bookable offense.
Racing down the left flank, Hall uncorked a powerful effort into the back of the net, after cutting into the area onto his favoured right foot.
Meanwhile, Coomacka upset Botofago 7-6 on sudden death penalty kicks after regulation time ended scoreless. Prior to the penalty shoot-out, Dexter Garraway missed a penalty kick opportunity in the 73rd minute, blasting his effort onto the crossbar. The respective semifinal losers will face off in the third place playoff.
The winner of the event will pocket $600,000 and the championship trophy. The second place side will pocket $300,000 and the respective accolade. Similarly, the third and fourth place teams will receive $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and a trophy.
