CANU on Saturday evening intercepted 61 lbs of suspected cocaine on a go-fast boat at the Parika Backdam and two men are in custody and a third who allegedly issued threats is being sought.

In a statement yesterday, the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said that it intercepted the suspected drugs in a fibre glass vessel at Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo.

CANU said the darkly painted go-fast vessel was intercepted with several parcels of the suspected cocaine in its bow.

The two occupants: Muneshwar Dusrajh, 48, and Latchman Sankar, 35, were arrested and remain in custody.

CANU also alleged that it has received threats from a known suspect – Ryan Pemberton also known as `Sancho’ of Alberttown, Georgetown and is currently seeking to have him arrested in relation to the bust. Anyone knowing his whereabouts is asked to make contact with the Unit on 226-0431.

CANU said that 25 parcels weighing a total of 27.866 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine were found.
