Georgetown Mayor, Ubraj Narine, on Tuesday suggested that barriers be placed on Sussex Street which is currently undergoing remedial works, to prevent heavy-duty vehicles from traversing the road.
This suggestion was made at the City Council’s statutory meeting as the mayor was reading through a report from the Council’s Engineer’s department. While perusing the report he noted that a number of road works were completed including in the West Ruimveldt areas, Agricola, and other areas and expressed the hope that works on Sussex Street would be completed before the week is over. The mayor said that they have received assistance from the Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MoPI) in getting those works done for which he is grateful.
