The newly elected executives of the Albion Community Centre Cricket Club, under the presidency of Vemen Walter met recently and named its various sub-committees, captains and vice-captains of the respective teams among others for the year 2020.
The club’s selection committee will be chaired by Walter and will include vice president and former Guyana Under 19 and Berbice senior Inter-County off-spinner Orvin Mangru and Roger Mc Donald, along with the manager and captain of the respective teams.
Imtiaz Baccus, the club’s assistant secretary/Treasurer, heads the Disciplinary committee with Prem Khanai, a school teacher and Albion Estate’s production manager, Karamchand Harripersaud being the other members.
Mangru will chair the Cricket Development Committee with Khanai and West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo making up the reminder of the committee.
Treasurer David Brigbhukan, also a school teacher, is the chairman of the fund-raising committee which also comprises Baccus, Mangru, Khanai and Harripersaud. This committee will be allowed to incorporate other members.
Left-arm-spinner Veerasammy Permaul was re-appointed as captain of the club’s first-dDivision side with fellow West Indies spinner Davendra Bishoo as his deputy. In the event both Permaul and Bishoo are unavailable, Gudakesh Motie or Anthony Bramble will lead the team.
Sharaz Ramcharran will captain the second division team with Adrian Sukhwa as his deputy. Former Berbice Under 15 wicketkeeper/batsman Rayaad Karim will captain the Under 21 team with national Under 19 left-arm-spinner Kelvin Umroa the vice-captain.
Karim and national Under 17 batsman Sarwan Chaitnarine are the captain and vice-captain respectively of the Under-19 team while Tameshwar Mahadeo will captain the Under-17 Team with Damien Cecil as the vice-captain.
Cecil is the club’s Under 15 captain with Kumar Deopersaud as the vice-captain while Devin Lalbehari and Ritesh Natoor are the captain and vice captain respectively of the Under 13 team.
The club’s various teams will be managed by Outar with Khanai and Brigbhukan providing assistance.
Walter and Outar will represent the club at the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) level with Outar and Mangru being the two representatives on the Albion Community Centre Council.
Brigbhukan was also re-appointed as the club’s public relations officer.
