Discarded West Indies and Guyana Jaguars batsman Rajendra Chandrika struck twin half-centuries for Raw Fitness Victoria United during his side’s drawn encounter against defending champs Alescon Comets in the latest round of the TT Cricket Board (TTCB) National Premiership competition at the weekend.
Comets, batting first, posted 224 before being dismissed with Guyanese Joshua Persaud (40) missing out his second 50 of the Premiership.
Chandrika then struck 69 – the top score – during his side’s first innings response of 250. Guyana’s Raj Nanan captured 4-89 bowling for Comets who were dismissed for 179 in their second innings with Persaud (38) and Nanan (22) the main contributors. Batting a second time and needing 205 for victory, United ended the match wobbling on 85-7 with Chandrika (53) once again spearheading his side’s batting effort. Nanan added 2-13 to his first-innings tally, ending the match with 6-102.
Over at Invaders Recreation Ground, Trevon Griffith top-scored for Central Sports with 37 who batted once during their draw against Queen’s Park I.
Meanwhile, former National player Royston Crandon continues to thrive on the Trinidad circuit for Powergen, stroking 63 and bagging 2-48 for his side against First Citizens Clarke Road. That match ended in a draw as well.
