As is customarily the case in our country, the fallout from our National and Regional elections, not least the tensions that frequently arise therefrom, usually have a disruptive impact on various sectors of the society. Historically, the business sector has been one of the hardest hit victims. The sight of shuttered business places in downtown Georgetown, the proprietors evidently monitoring the political currents and speculating as to when normal life will return to the business sector has been a commonplace and depressing sight in recent days. Quite apart from maintaining law and order government, one assumes is mindful of the psychological as much as the economic impact that all of this is having on business and that those considerations are being factored into such initiatives as are being pursued to bring an end to the impasse.
