Two men accused of wounding Winston Rogers during a robbery were yesterday remanded on a charge of robbery under arms.
Gregory Bowman, of Lot 26, Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, and Troy Gavon, of Lot 11, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, both stood before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty to answer to a charge of robbery under arms, to which they both pleaded not guilty.
It was alleged that on the 16th March, 2020, at Cornhill and Hadfield streets, Georgetown, being armed with an icepick, the duo robbed Rogers of one cellular phone valued at $6000, one pair of Adidas sneakers valued at $11,500 and $17,000 cash.
According to Police Prosecutor Delon Sullivan, objection to bail was made based on the serious nature of the matter. He added that an offensive weapon was used, the virtual complainant suffered stab wounds about his body and if given pretrial liberty, the likelihood of the defendants returning for trial was unknown.
Upon hearing the prosecutor’s plea, both men were remanded until April 8th, 2020.
