Dear Editor,
The Laws of Guyana are clear that the President is the only member of the Executive who survives once an election is held. Today (18th March) I read of Granger issuing blank cheques to ‘Ministers’ and of Ministerial task forces. In light of this, I can only conclude that there has been a (secret?) swearing-in of a new Executive President of the Republic of Guyana and he has named a Cabinet.
Given the lack of transparency in the process, I assume we will learn the names of Ministers and their portfolios by way of actions. I commend all members of the new executive for their courage to stand with David Granger against the world in the face of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s recent promise of personal sanctions against those who seek to benefit from Guyana’s electoral fraud.
Yours faithfully,
Robin Singh
