Two police constables on Tuesday testified in the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the charge against Kwayana Fernandes, who is accused of the murder of taxi-driver Owayne Lynch.
The PI continued before Prin-cipal Magistrate Faith McGusty in a Georgetown court, where constables Jermaine Richards and Sheldon Harvey, both attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), testified.
The charge states that Fernandes, 48, of 475 Cemetery Road, Mocha Arcadia, on August 6, 2019, at Cemetery Road, Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara, murdered Lynch.
Lynch, 42, of Stevedore Housing Scheme, had picked up a client at Sophia to be dropped off at Mocha Arcadia.
After Lynch’s body was found in a pool of blood with multiple wounds at Cemetery Road, persons who were around said he was heard arguing with his passenger about the payment for the drop. An icepick was also found at the crime scene. It was suspected that his passenger pulled out an ice pick and dealt Lynch several stabs about his body.
The PI continues on April 1st, 2020.
