Burglars last week invaded the home of a young East Canje, Berbice couple and robbed them of jewellery, groceries, clothing and other items.
Priya Singh, 29, explained, that on Friday afternoon they discovered their Lot 4 Adelphi Village, East Canje Berbice, house had been raided. Accord-ing to the young woman, it is suspected that the burglars gained entry by breaking the toilet window.
While a devastated Singh could not give the total value of her losses, she said the burglars carted off jewellery, a large quan-tity of groceries, clothing, bags, perfumes, lotions, baby pampers and also baby feeding bottles and feeding products such as milk and other items.
“Due to the Covid-19 virus we stock up with everything in case of shortage. The grocery is worth more than anything. It’s a lot of grocery”, she said.
She also noted, “My kid left with no pampers to wear”.
Singh, a mother of a one-year-old, said, the burglars also made off with her wedding dress and items belonging to her sister-in-law and her child who were also residing with them.
According to the young woman, a report was filed at the Reliance Police Station but no arrest was made up to yesterday afternoon.
Singh said they had received some information from villagers and after visiting an empty house they discovered a shoe belonging to her husband and a dress belonging to her sister-in-law.
