Eastern Airlines offering relief flight to US

An Eastern Airlines relief flight from Georgetown to Miami is expected leave today at 4:30pm.

The service being put on by Eastern Airlines is in line with a number of relief flights that the airline is offering from South and Central American countries to Miami, Florida, in the US.

According to the company’s website, the commercial flight #010, is expected to depart the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) at 4:30pm and make its way to the Miami International Airport. It also advised that the flight will operate on a first-come-first-serve basis and interested persons can make reservations through the airline’s website, www.goeasternair.com.

Guyana’s two major airports, the Cheddi Jagan International and the Eugene F. Correia International, were closed to all international and regional flights from March 18th and the closure is expected to last for a period of 14 days in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Exceptions were however made to this restriction which include; outgoing flights, cargo flights, medevac flights and technical stops.
