A minibus driver was yesterday granted bail after denying a charge of dangerous driving.
Akash Baijnauth, 34, of Lot 46 Success, East Coast Demerara, was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly to answer to the two charges.
It was alleged that on February 7, 2020, at Vlissengen Road and North Road, Baijnauth drove minibus BNN 8884 in a manner dangerous to the public.
It was also alleged that on the same day, Baijnauth proceeded to go when the traffic light displayed red.
Baijnauth, who pleaded not guilty to both charges, told the court that the traffic light showed both red and green at the same time. He said he made the decision to go ahead, after seeing the car in front of him going through the conflicting lights.
Baijnauth was released on $30,000 bail. His next hearing is slated for May 21, 2020 at Court 7.
