The deceased man is  Leon Adams, 60, of Tarlogie Village, Corentyne, Berbice. Stabroek News understands Adams is the proprietor of the contracted company and worked along with his son.

According to information provided to this newspaper, Adams at around 9.30 am, slipped and fell from the tower while he was climbing to conduct an inspection.

He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital by his son and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Yesterday, Commander of the division, Yonette Stephens, told Stabroek News that a formal report was only made on Monday by family members after they required a post-mortem examination.

Stephens said ranks are now trying to gather information on what transpired.

“We are now trying to put together a report because no report was made on Sunday. Nobody saw what happened – it was him and his son present at the accident site. My ranks learned about it on social media but the family came and made a report yesterday because they needed a post-mortem done,” the commander said.

The results from the autopsy examination gave his cause of death as multiple injuries.

Meanwhile, when Stabroek News reached out to the family of Adams they said that since the matter was an “industrial accident”, they wished not to offer any comment to the press. The family has also asked the power company to refrain from releasing any information on the matter.
